This 3.6m green cant rail is the longest standard size available, ideal for wide spans or when you want to position posts at closer centres for extra strength. It’s pressure treated to UC4 standards for long-term durability in outdoor environments, including ground contact. Made using the (2EX) method, each rail is cut from 125mm x 47mm timber and finishes at approximately 75mm x 47mm with a chamfered top edge for effective rainwater runoff.

For a professional and uniform installation, cant rails are mounted so that two rails meet at the centre of each post. This ensures strength, symmetry, and a seamless look across the full fence line.

Fixings can include 100mm galvanised nails into wooden posts, or timber screws and cup square bolts when installing with concrete systems.

This 3.6m cant rail is ideal for constructing longer or reinforced closeboard fencing runs. It is UC4 pressure treated in brown for maximum protection against rot and decay, especially in exposed outdoor environments. Cut using the (2EX) method from a 125mm x 47mm timber section, it finishes at approximately 75mm x 47mm with a chamfered edge for water runoff.

Each cant rail is installed so that it overlaps halfway onto the fence post, allowing the next rail to join cleanly in the centre. This consistent post-to-post layout maintains strength and visual uniformity across the entire fence line. The 3.6m length is best suited to post centres of 1.8m for added structural strength.

Use 100mm galvanised nails for timber posts, or alternatively, fix with timber screws or cup square bolts if using concrete recessed posts.

This 3.0m cant rail is pressure treated to UC4 standard in a brown finish, ideal for closeboard fencing installations that demand extra strength and extended bay widths. Cut using the (2EX) method, two cant rails are produced from a single 125mm x 47mm timber length. The resulting board measures approximately 75mm x 47mm and features a chamfered top edge for water runoff.

Cant rails are fitted so that each length sits half on a fence post, allowing two rails to join centrally and maintain a consistent, uniform line along the fence run.
This 3.0m length is often used with post centres of either 3.0m or reduced to 1.8m when additional strength is required.

To install cant rails, ensure each rail spans between posts and sits halfway onto each post face. This allows for the next rail to continue from the same point. Start at the bottom and space additional rails evenly upward, fixing securely using nails, screws, or bolts depending on your post type. Be sure to align the chamfered edge facing upward and outward for proper water runoff.

This 2.4m cant rail is ideal for constructing closeboard fencing and provides a strong, rot-resistant horizontal support for feather edge boards. Pressure treated to UC4 standard in green, it’s suitable for use in ground-contact areas or exposed conditions. Each cant rail is cut from a 125mm x 47mm section of timber using the (2EX) method, producing two finished rails with a chamfered edge. Final dimensions are approximately 75mm x 47mm.

Rails are fitted so that they meet centrally on each post — each rail sitting halfway across — ensuring uniform alignment and maximum strength. The 2.4m length is commonly used with posts spaced at 2.4m centres, making installation straightforward.

Fix in place using 100mm galvanised nails when using wooden posts, or opt for timber screws or cup square bolts with concrete recessed post systems.

2.4m x 75mm x 47mm Cant Rail – Pressure Treated Brown

This 2.4m cant rail is a key structural component for building traditional closeboard fencing. UC4 pressure treated in brown, it offers reliable resistance to rot and is ideal for domestic and commercial fencing applications. The timber is cut using the (2EX) method from a 125mm x 47mm section, resulting in a finished size of approximately 75mm x 47mm with a chamfered edge to help shed water.

Cant rails should be positioned so that they sit halfway across the fence post. This allows the next rail to join seamlessly at the post centre, creating a strong and visually consistent fencing line. The 2.4m length works well with matching post spacing or can be cut down for custom bays.

Fix using 100mm galvanised nails for timber posts, or upgrade to timber screws or cup square bolts when using concrete recessed posts.

How do you install cant rails?

Start by marking post heights and rail positions. Fix each cant rail so it sits halfway onto the face of the post, allowing a continuous joint at the post centre. Begin with the bottom rail and space upwards evenly. Ensure the chamfered edge faces outwards and up for water runoff. Use 100mm nails, screws, or bolts depending on the fencing system.
