1.2m Pointed Top Picket Board – Pressure Treated Brown (Sawn Finish)
Traditional Brown-Treated Fence Pale with Pointed Top
This 1.2m pointed top picket board is pressure treated brown for long-lasting resistance to moisture, rot, and decay. Its pointed top adds a sharp, decorative finish that’s commonly used for boundary fencing, front gardens, and path edging. The sawn surface gives a traditional rustic appearance that pairs well with other brown timber materials.
Each board is designed to sit slightly above and below the horizontal rails to create the signature palisade picket effect, combining visual appeal with practical boundary marking.
Recommended Rails and Fence Setup
For best results, pair these pickets with brown horse rail (87mm x 38mm x 3.6m) – used as top and bottom rails to secure the boards. Allow each picket to overhang by ~50mm above and below the rails for a neat finish.
Recommended post options for 1.2m high pickets:
-
1.8m wooden fence posts – Easy to install with a traditional aesthetic
-
1.8m concrete recessed fence posts – Long-life, rot-proof alternative
Post Saver Sleeves (view here) can also be applied to timber posts for a low-cost way to reduce ground-line rot and extend the life of your installation.
Want a quicker option? Check out our pre-assembled 1.83m picket fence panels — same great style, no measuring or spacing needed.
Add a Matching Gate
Complete the look with a matching garden picket gate, available in the same pointed top finish to tie your fence and access point together seamlessly.
How Far Apart Do I Space My Picket Pales?
Standard spacing is 70mm, creating a “hit and miss” effect (a board, a gap, a board) — offering a light boundary without full privacy. For a tighter, more private setup, reduce spacing to 50mm. Wider gaps help reduce wind load and give a more open feel. Your spacing should match the desired balance between privacy, airflow, and style.
How Many Pickets Will I Need?
With 70mm boards and 70mm gaps, you’ll typically use 7 pickets per metre. To help calculate exact quantities and layout, view our full installation guide:
