2.4m x 75mm x 47mm Cant Rail – Pressure Treated Brown
This 2.4m cant rail is a key structural component for building traditional closeboard fencing. UC4 pressure treated in brown, it offers reliable resistance to rot and is ideal for domestic and commercial fencing applications. The timber is cut using the (2EX) method from a 125mm x 47mm section, resulting in a finished size of approximately 75mm x 47mm with a chamfered edge to help shed water.
Cant rails should be positioned so that they sit halfway across the fence post. This allows the next rail to join seamlessly at the post centre, creating a strong and visually consistent fencing line. The 2.4m length works well with matching post spacing or can be cut down for custom bays.
Fix using 100mm galvanised nails for timber posts, or upgrade to timber screws or cup square bolts when using concrete recessed posts.

How do you install cant rails?
Start by marking post heights and rail positions. Fix each cant rail so it sits halfway onto the face of the post, allowing a continuous joint at the post centre. Begin with the bottom rail and space upwards evenly. Ensure the chamfered edge faces outwards and up for water runoff. Use 100mm nails, screws, or bolts depending on the fencing system.
